During this course, we will read a graphic novel. What is a graphic novel? What's the point? Is it really a novel? How do images and words work together to create something that is more than a graphic, and even more than a novel?
A graphic novel is a book with a lot of pictures. to help people because picture express feeling more then words. It is real a novel this in a another from. When you see some words you jus t think about it but when you see a picture you already know the meaning. basically that is the point of a graphic novel.
A graphic novel is a comic type book. Its point is to show pictures to help express the words better. In a way it is still a novel because it shows a story line most of the time, except it just adds pictures to it. Images and words work together to help create something better because images give a novel something that can only be expressed through sight such as an action scene. In a novel we can only imagine what the scence would look like, but a graphic novel gives us the artists view or idea of how it looks. In this way we can compare ideas to how we could have thought it look to how the author thinks it looks.
A graphic novel shows that the person in the book is feeling, doing, etc. I think that the point of a graphic novel is for the reader to see what is happening in the book instead of having to read it and try and comprehend what is happening. But with pictures and short captions you can just see what the author is trying to say. I personally don't think that it is a novel but more like a comic book. Words and pictures together show something more then graphic by showing something that is happening graphically verbally and physically. It creates a more powerful image in the person head
A graphic novel is a boook that uses imagery to express ideas. Some novels are considered explicit because of how detailed the words or even picturess are. The point the writer is trying to convey may be easier put acrooss if it is a graphic novel. All novels are differentt and jus because it is a graphic novel doesn't mean its not a novel. images and words work together to create masterpieces. Writers have to powerto do whatever they want with words and if that means goin above and beyond and making a book more than a novel than i say goahead.--create a "supernovel" -

The point is to be able to read for understanding without actually reading but by looking at graphics n filling in the blanks. It is really a novel because it is telling a story but it just doesn't have words. Its good that you can read a book and imagine what the pics say but its better to actually see what the author thinks!
I think that James is right a graphic novel is still a novel that has pictures. It gives you an easier image of whats happening in he book. Also I would think that a person that writes a graphic novel cannot express an image if they had just words.

When you have imagery and verbatum, your brain has the ability to comprehend in more ways than one. When you have pictures, it helps you visualize the story in your head, and you can also see how the author sees the story himself.
